Makeup & Lash Extensions: What you NEED to know!

Unfortunately, most of your makeup will have to go once you get your first set of lash extensions, especially if you want your lashes to last. Lash extensions should last you 2-3 weeks with the correct maintenance. Wearing the wrong makeup will cause your lash extensions to fall out prematurely. Frustrating right? Your lashes are an investment. I want to make sure you are caring for them properly, especially if you are a makeup wearer.

So what are the do’s and don'ts about putting on makeup with lash extensions? What products can you use and what products should be avoided? Because obviously we love our extensions and would hate for them to be removed.

Let's start with the DONT’s!

NO MASCARA! No mascara ever. Like never ever. There is no need for mascara. Mascara ruins the retention of your lash extensions. You got lash extensions so you wouldn’t need to wear mascara so just do not do it.

No Pencil Liner. Cream and gel eyeliners leave a gummy residue on your eyes and on your lash extensions. Removing liner is super hard causing the lash extensions to tangle and fall out.

NO OIL. That includes oil based makeup. Keeping your lashes squeaky clean is imperative to the longevity of the extensions.

No Waterproof Makeup! Waterproof makeup requires extra effort to remove it properly from your eyes. Wearing makeup that can easily be removed is key to keeping your lash extensions lasting.

Now let’s chat about some of the DO’s!

Powder eyeliner will be your best friend. Why? Because it is oil free and can be easily removed.

Yes to all oil-free makeup removers and facial cleansers. Oil breaks down the adhesive used to keep your lashes secure. So make sure all of your cleansers and makeup removers are 100% oil FREE.

I hope this short blog helped. Don’t forget to brush and clean those lashes.
